Manos del Uruguay
Manos del Uruguay yarns have a unique story. The company was created in 1968 to provide jobs for women in their rural hometowns in Uruguay allowing them to provide for their families and be independent while staying in their home villages and keeping their roots and traditional skills. Manos is a member of the World Fair Trade Organisation from 2009.
They spin and dye their yarns in cooperatives located in the small towns in Uruguay. Each Manos skein has a tag with the name of the artisan who made it and the cooperative location. They are hand dyed to produce a rich colour pallette with the subtle irregularities from hands of each artisan.
